Our Story

Eighty-Seven Years on Egypt’s Roads

AMPRA is the automotive battery brand of Nile Vantage Automotive, a member of the Karnak Industrial Group.

The Karnak Industrial Group began in 1939 as a single hardware counter on Sharia Qasr El-Nil in downtown Cairo, selling lamp oil, spare parts and hand tools to a city that was only beginning to motorise. Its founder, Ibrahim Zaki Karnak, had one rule that survives in the group to this day: never sell a customer something you would not fit to your own vehicle.

That counter grew into a trading house. By the 1960s the group was supplying filters, lubricants and electrical components to workshops from Alexandria to Aswan. By the 1980s it had moved into manufacturing, assembly and industrial distribution, and it now operates across seven sectors with more than 4,000 employees.

Nile Vantage Automotive was established in 1994 as the group’s dedicated automotive arm. For three decades it has distributed parts and consumables to Egypt’s independent workshops, fleet operators and retail chains — the mechanics who work on the Ring Road, the trucking firms running the Cairo–Alexandria Desert Road, and the service centres that keep the Delta moving.

Why We Built AMPRA

Batteries were the part our customers complained about most. Too many units on the Egyptian market were specified for temperate climates and failed early in the heat, or arrived without any warranty a workshop could actually honour. Our engineers spent two years testing plate chemistries and case designs against Egyptian conditions — summer under-bonnet temperatures above 60°C, short urban trips that never fully recharge a battery, and dust that destroys a poorly sealed vent.

AMPRA is the result: a maintenance-free range built on calcium–calcium grid technology, manufactured to our specification and backed by a warranty our own dealers administer. The name comes from the ampere, the unit of current — and the lightning bolt in the mark is the letter M, because every battery we make is measured by the power it actually delivers on a hot morning, not by what the label claims.

What We Promise

  • Built for this climate. Every AMPRA unit is validated at temperatures Egyptian summers actually reach, not at European test-bench averages.
  • Genuinely maintenance-free. Sealed for life. No water top-ups, no acid checks, no guesswork.
  • A warranty that is honoured locally. Claims are handled by the dealer who sold the battery, backed by Nile Vantage directly.
  • Available where you are. A distribution network reaching every governorate, built over thirty years.
The Group Behind the Brand

Scale You Can Rely On

A battery is only as good as the company standing behind it. AMPRA is carried by an industrial group with 87 years of trading history, thousands of employees and operations across seven sectors — which is why our warranty means something, and why the stock is on the shelf when your workshop needs it.
